Swiss AviationSoftware (Swiss-AS) is proud to announce that flydubai, a fast-expanding low-cost carrier, has chosen AMOS to manage its Maintenance & Engineering activities.

The ever growing AMOS community is now enriched by yet another client from the Middle East, which bestows upon Swiss-AS an even more dominant role in that regional market.

“We are very pleased about the future partnership with flydubai and look forward to a long-lasting and close collaboration, as well as a smooth implementation within the next months. In view of flydubai’s extensive expansion plans, we are more than convinced that AMOS is the right solution to actively support that challenging strategy”, stated Ronald Schaeuffele, CEO of Swiss-AS. “The new contract means a clear acknowledgment that Swiss-AS is on the right track regarding the continuous investment in R&D and the wide scope of fully integrated modules and functionalities offered to our customers.”

The kickoff of the project is scheduled for the beginning of September 2010 and the implementation is planned to take only four to five months.

An implementation within this timeframe is challenging but achievable since numerous employees are already familiar with AMOS and transferring the data should be an easy task. As flydubai has been operative for just over a year and all aircraft are delivered to them directly from the manufacturer, the amount of legacy data to be migrated from their previous system to AMOS should be manageable.

Currently the low-cost carrier is in-sourcing its MRO activities. Once this process has been completed, the airline will make extensive usage of the sophisticated AMOS modules, enabling the carrier to efficiently manage the complex maintenance, engineering and logistics requirements.

flydubai, Dubai’s first low cost airline, was established by the Government of Dubai in March 2008 and began commercial flights onJune 1st, 2009.

flydubai aims to make travel a little less complex, a little less stressfuland a little less expensive, and thereby increase the number of people travelling to and from the UAE.

flydubai currently has a fleet of nine brand new Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft and operates to 22 destinations: Beirut-Lebanon, Amman-Jordan, Damascus, Aleppo and Latakia-Syria, Alexandria, Luxor and Assiut-Egypt, Djibouti, Doha-Qatar, Baku-Azerbaijan, Khartoum-Sudan, Bahrain, Kathmandu-Nepal, Muscat-Oman, Kabul-Afghanistan, Kuwait, Lucknow-India, Istanbul-Turkey, Karachi-Pakistan, Colombo-Sri Lanka and Erbil-Iraq. Flights to Yekaterinburg-Russia will start in October.
