Helvetic Airways Implements the PFB™ Paperless Flight Bag EFB Platform from IFS

IFS – International Flight Support, the Copenhagen based EFB Software Platform provider, announces that it has signed a contract with Helvetic Airways, the unique Swiss airline based in Zürich, Switzerland covering implementation of the PFB™ Paperless Flight Bag from IFS.  Helvetic Airways operates a fleet consisting of Airbus A319 and Fokker 100 aircraft on their well established European scheduled route network and also operates extensive scheduled charter flights into Northern Africa and the Canary Islands.

“Helvetic Airways selected the comprehensive PFB™ Paperless Flight Bag software solution from IFS because it copes with our current and future demanding operational requirements. The PFB™ will be a cornerstone in our operational set-up and its flexibility secures that we can meet our long term EFB strategy goals”, Mr. Bruno Jans, CEO of Helvetic Airways said.

The first phase of the implementation project started at the end 2013 covering the Fokker 100 fleet.  Helvetic Airways will implement the PFB™ Paperless Flight Bag software in the iPad version as a full Class II-b solution for all-phases-of-flight use.  The project includes the advanced PFB™ Back-Office System which: powers the PFB Platform, centralizes all data flows and controls data import/export to back-end systems and manages all individual deployed EFB units.

”The user-friendly, effective and yet flexible architecture provided by the PFB™ Paperless Flight Bag gives Helvetic Airways the opportunity to bring even more automation into its processes thus reducing workload on flights as well as for ground personnel. The EFB modules selected for first phase are Weight & Balance/eLoadsheet module, Take-Off Performance module based on Navtech data integration, Landing Performance module OFF-line, Electronic Flight Planning with full CrewBriefing and eOFP for electronic fuel, time checks and note functionality, ATC Note Taker module for finger or stylus registration of ATC clearances and ATIS, and full customized Voyage/Journey log reporting module (Pre-flight reporting and Post-flight reporting with electronic sign-off) along with Flight Leg data export to the Chart Viewer.
