SUNDSVALL, SWEDEN, February 3, 2014 — navAero announced today long-standing customer, Kalitta Air, has chosen to move to the navAero iPad Air-based EFB system as their migration strategy to have the most current technology in-place for their B747-200 and B747-400 fleets.

The highly adaptable navAero iPad “Smart” Mount system with the built-in power/data interface module will be deployed with the Universal Aircraft Interface Device to supply certified connectivity to aircraft power as well as ARINC 429 & 717 data. The integrated system will provide for maximum functionality of the iPad Air tablet as a deployed Class 2 EFB platform.

The iPad “Smart” Mount system will be deployed as a replacement for the currently installed navAero t∙Bag™C22 EFB system. STC amendments will facilitate easy modification of installed display mounting components and wiring provisions to provide for rapid de-installation of the current EFB system and installation of the iPad Air and Universal Aircraft Interface Device.

Joel Gerow, Manager, Avionics Engineering, Kalitta Air, stated: “Since our deployment in 2008 of the navAero t∙Bag™C22 EFB system, we have had a very high level satisfaction with navAero EFB technology and hardware reliability. When we made the strategic decision to move forward with the iPad Platform, it was a simple decision for us to turn to navAero for their tablet solution. Their STC amendments will provide for a rapid roll-out of our new platform. And the low-cost of the iPad Air EFB installation system acquisition allows us to further expand our technology integration that will help us to operate our aircrafts more efficiently.”

Simone Giordano, President, navAero Group commented: “The confidence in navAero EFB system by one of our longest-term customers is testament to the reliability of our technology solutions…whether they are tablet-based or aircraft-installed. For many of our airline customers around the world like legacy carrier Air France, the t∙Bag™C22. EFB system is the right technology to fulfill their needs both today and well into the future. For others, like Kalitta Air and WestJet Encore, a move to a tablet solution is the best EFB platform. Regardless of the customer’s EFB path, navAero has the most flexible and cost affordable solutions available today. And the ease by which all our EFB platforms can be integrated into the aircrafts systems with our UAID provides navAero customers with purposefully designed solutions to meet their own specific requirements.”
