Pakistan International Airlines is Wow-ing Customers with Portable Wireless IFE from Bluebox Aviation

Dunfermline, UK - 09 February 2017 - Bluebox Aviation's award-winning portable wireless solution - Bluebox Wow - has taken to the air in its first deployment with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). The airline, which unveiled its new streaming wireless IFE provision on selected domestic flights this month, has been using Bluebox's iPad®-based portable IFE solution on its long-haul flights for business-class passengers, so was confident Bluebox's Wow system was the best product to provide wireless streaming to passengers' own devices.

"We were delighted by the success of our portable IFE program with Bluebox, which enabled us to provide pre-loaded iPad devices but this takes us so much further in being able to delight passengers who wish to use their own devices but still access our licenced content," said Mr. Muhammad Aamir Memon, General Manager, Brand Management at PIA.  "The original Bluebox Ai solution surpassed our expectations, and now we have a new way of delivering even more products and services to our passengers through the advertising options available on Bluebox Wow."

"We know that PIA has set a very high standard for its customer experience, so we are delighted that PIA's deployment has started and that early feedback from passengers is so positive," said Kevin Clark, Bluebox Aviation's Chief Executive Officer. "Though we'd already gone through the necessary steps to support regulatory approval for Bluebox Wow, it is only by working closely with innovative customers like PIA - willing to try our new solutions during live service and provide us with actual passenger feedback - that we can be confident we're delivering products that enhance passengers' inflight experience."

In the first phase of the deployment, 30 hours of content is being made available to passengers, including dramas, comedies, children's movies, Tilawat, documentaries, safety videos, Urdu feature films and music. For the second phase, work is already underway to deliver further content, including western movies, interactive games for kids, moving maps and advertising options.

Initially, Bluebox Wow-powered wireless streaming will be available on selected flights on PIA's Karachi-Islamabad and Karachi-Lahore routes.
